Firebird oil boiler

The problem

The older Firebird boiler was heavily sooted and producing black smoke. Its fan motor was stopping and starting, and the burner was intermittently locking out after the customer had reset it several times.

Our investigation & work

PCR investigated the source of the smoke and lockouts. Because of the burner’s age and unreliable fan motor, the burner was replaced for long-term reliability and peace of mind. The repaired boiler was then tested with a combustion analyser.

The outcome

The boiler was repaired, tested and returned to safe operation.
