A heat pump is part of a complete system

Good maintenance considers the outdoor unit, hydraulic components, controls, emitters and hot-water settings together. A clean outdoor unit alone does not confirm that the system is operating well.

Eight useful service checks

  1. Recorded faults and operating history to understand intermittent or recurring issues.
  2. Outdoor-unit condition, including airflow, coil cleanliness and visible damage.
  3. System pressure and water condition where applicable.
  4. Filters, strainers and magnetic protection for restrictions or collected debris.
  5. Flow temperatures and weather compensation to check that settings suit the home.
  6. Circulation and flow through pumps, valves and emitters.
  7. Hot-water operation, including target temperatures and scheduled cycles.
  8. Controls and homeowner settings so the system is not fighting unnecessary setbacks or overrides.

When to request fault diagnosis

Book an assessment if the system regularly loses heating or hot water, becomes unusually noisy, displays recurring fault codes or shows a marked unexplained change in electricity use. A service can identify maintenance needs, but some symptoms require separate diagnostic and repair work.

PCR provides specialist heat-pump servicing and fault diagnosis across Cawood, Selby and surrounding YO8 and YO19 villages.
